"Can we bring yesterday back around?"
Sunday. 26th October 2008. Was a day i'd love to forget but apparently, i dont think i can ever will. Well, maybe given 50 more years in time and my mind slowly starts to fade, then probably, this date will cease to exist. On this fateful day, i had the honour to go back to camp to finish up what would be my last duty for the company as a COS. I.e to say, i'll be slacking in the company line all by myself with no one to attend to AT ALL. Whats really surprising is that, i'm on medical leave and yet, i still have to come down because apparently, no one's willing to change a Sunday duty. Yeah, well, whatever. I pretty much do not pretty care with a company of such men and commanders no more. ~~~ Things started out pretty silly. i misplaced my CashCard as well as my set of bike keys somewhere lying somewhere over the rainbow probably. So i had to use a 2nd set (thank goodness i had them!) to start my bike. Then things started out even pretty sillier. I got to my bike at the carpark and lo and behold, when i pulled the canvas off it, my bike fell on its left thus breaking my front side light as well as my left clutch lever. A part of it. It felt shitty to see your bike fall like that - IN THE CARPARK! Sheesh! Along the expressway, i thought that my engine oil wasnt enough and so i didnt dare go over 120km/h fearing a piston jam which could cause severe skidding. And thats is really a no no when you are alerady late for work. So i detoured to Shell and bought myself a litre's worth of 2T only to realise that my 2T in my tank was 3/4 full. I wasted $11.40 on 2T which i think i could have gotten a better and cheaper price elsewhere. Sheesh! Having parked inside my camp's carpark. I had to unlock the back seat of my bike to retrieve my spare helmet. Guess what? My key broke into 2. Leaving a piece of it stuck inside the mechanism. Yes, the freaking lock mechanism. Leaving me with no key whatsoever to get back home from Changi. Sheesh! Anyways, i had my friend to get my original set of keys at home to bring it all the way to Changi JUST so i can get back home. Like that is totally, TTLYZ sweet and nice of him. Hohoho. ~~~ Thought that this whole Bike drama is over? Well, not quite, in the afternoon, i received an sms which informed me that one of my Army mates had died in a bike accident. I was devastated. Well, not that BIG drama kind but, it was so unexpected, at a young age of 25 and he's gone. Last time i met up with him was in July when i was just getting ready to choose my ride and he was there, sitting in his HUGE bike getting it done up with whatever bikey stuffs. Sad. Life. Something we ALL should cherish while we still can. ~~~ Something about ERP and me just dont mix. The gantries just keep popping out more often on the roads like as if the Govt were playing a game of Command And Conquer and its so easily "be made". The ERP pricings are increasing like the number of Lehman shareholders who are jumping off the cliffs. Thats pretty a lot actually. And lastly, the ERPs are operating longer than usual! Dont machines need rests too?! Sheesh! All this, because i have TWICED been "fined" for not inserting a CashCard inside my IU unit or whatever unit lah. $18 bucks of fines! That could have taken me out on a dinner date at a kopitiam! 2 Chicken Rice ($6) + 2 Milo dinosaur ($6). Total = $12. And i still have spare cash! Sheesh! All and all, riding's been pretty much fun so far. (: Speed dont kill. Ignorance does. Bil |
